STEIFF***1995 HAPPINESS ASIAN TEDDY BEAR IMPERIAL YELLOW 40 768/3000 – $395
***CHECK OUT THE DATES FOR OUR NEXT MONTH END SALE***
I strongly suggest one never shop at this pawn shop. The reasons are, first, that they listed this 1995 teddy as an antique. I was born before that, and I am not an antique! NinjaChow, too, wept bitter tears finding this just 23 years old bear considered an antique. I have shoes older than that, Sparky!
Also, there is only one photo of the teddy bear and then a bunch of photos of a bear sculpture with no explanation. Is it included with the bear? Is that bear an LVN bear, taking care of the antique teddy? Who knows? But I do wish the shop had added just a line or three about it. Look at the stone bear face! So cute.
Thanks for the ad, NinjaChow. Keep them coming. (PS: Fruit flies like a banana.)

Hmm, the stone carving sure seems to have a lot of PNW first nation esthetic to it. Kinda a stretch to call that “asian.”
Mind, origins of the teddy bear get argued a bit, as to whether Germany or the US produced them first. Then there is the issue as to whether they were political commentary mocking Roosevelt’s giant stuffed bear or supportive politically.
Which is rather a lot of angst over a plush toy.

The soapstone bear is Inuit. It should be signed and dated on the bottom. Depending on the size and artist, it might be worth that price.

Yes, it was signed and dated on the bottom. I failed to grasp the significance because it looked like a 2nd grader’s writing. So I didn’t save it.
