So this Carlos guy liked toucans so much, he put one on a pedestal and now Sparky is shouting about and wants lots of money for it. I think something like this should be on eBay, where the high rollers hang out. Craigslist isn’t the sort of venue for people with an extra five hundred sitting around to spend on white porcelain. Submitter NinjaChow was amazed to find the statue in the antique section because it really doesn’t look that old. Besides, it looks more like a toucanet to me. But what do I know about birds?
Had to go look. Seems that toucans on stumps and rocks are a “thing” in Brazil. (And are all over etsy and pinterest.)
And, there are some serious art pieces in this format.
However, curiously, there’s zero biographical info for Carlos Del Conde. Google offers up some mixed media statuary under that imprimatur.
Which suggests it’s a pottery studio, and not an artist
So, my vote is that Spark is a white-collar stoner and need a brake job and a pizza, and the pawn shop offered only $40..

So, apparently, Carlos del Conde was a Mexican sculptor and apprentice/partner to Sergio Bustamante.

But then how did he come by this objet de arte? Did Grammy leave it to him in her will?
