Dug these up didn’t know they were plants people liked

I have these growing in my own front yard. They are called various names like Sword Plant and Mother-in-law Tongue. They have survived the gophers and the drought. I wonder if Sparky dug these up from his own yard or if he found out people liked them when he took them away.
