I have no idea what a person could build with 100-plus-year-old barn wood except, maybe another barn. Half a barn, really. I’m also impressed that this lumber survived years in South Dakota and then sat in piles in a coastal city in California. I’m sure there were no pests or insects hidden away in the wood as they carried it across many states. I bet the Department of Agriculture would like a word with you, Sparky.
Barnwood was a huge “interior decoration” fad in the 80s. Very much part of the “build brand new but pretend it’s rustic” chic of the day.
Joanna Gaines, et al, have resurrected the notion, but only a tiny bit.
Spark has maybe $100 of wood there.
Its particular vice being the lack of regularity. If the ID needs 47 120″ long 1×6 that’s what they want. Not 7 of these, and 6 of those.
