Post 1213: Scoby Don’t

Free Kombucha Scoby

I have 3 jars like the picture and want to give away some scoby, always used organic black tea, bring a glass jar and take some.

I can meet you in [Location] or by [Very Large] Park Activity Center.

I’ve never tried to make Kombucha, so I had to look up Scoby. And none of the photos I saw looked anything like this jar of flotsam. SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast) should form a gelatinous dish-shaped layer on the tea base. Part of the job of the Scoby is to protect the Kombucha while it ferments. Which means if there is no Scoby, you might be in danger of being poisoned. So, unless Sparky relates that this stuff was just today mixed together, I’d advice not bothering. Also moving Kombucha from one jar to another is not advised.
